Modeling of Radioxenon Production and Release Pathways
نویسندگان
چکیده
Models have been developed to calculate the diffusion of radioxenon through porous environmental media such as sand and soil. Initial experiments have also been conducted to determine the feasibility of radioxenon transport through soil and sand columns. The initial studies investigated method detection limits for xenon detection. These results show that stable xenon may be detected through prompt gamma activation analysis (PGAA) with detection limits in the 10-ppm range. New experiments are being designed to measure the diffusion of xenon in a nondestructive temporal manner. The initial goal is to measure an overall diffusion coefficient for each porous medium. The secondary goal is to measure the isotopic fractionation resulting from the process. 2010 Monitoring Research Review: Ground-Based Nuclear Explosion Monitoring Technologies

Evaluation of radioxenon releases in Australia using atmospheric dispersion modelling tools.
The origin of a series of atmospheric radioxenon events detected at the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO) International Monitoring System site in Melbourne, Australia, between November 2008 and February 2009 was investigated. Backward tracking analyses indicated that the events were consistent with releases associated with hot commission testing of the Australian Nuclear Scienc...
متن کاملIsotopic noble gas signatures released from medical isotope production facilities--simulations and measurements.
Radioxenon isotopes play a major role in confirming whether or not an underground explosion was nuclear in nature. It is then of key importance to understand the sources of environmental radioxenon to be able to distinguish civil sources from those of a nuclear explosion. Based on several years of measurements, combined with advanced atmospheric transport model results, it was recently shown th...

Objective(s):Hypoxia induces cellular oxidative stress that is associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Here, the protective effects of ferulic acid (FA) on hypoxia-induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells were evaluated. Materials and Methods:We investigated the effect of FA on PC12 cells subjected to hypoxia stress, in vitro. Results:FA increased cell viability, prevented membrane damage (LDH r...
متن کاملEstimation and Modeling of Biogas Production in Municipal Landfill
The municipal solid waste in Landfill is transformed into landfill gas during a biochemical conversion process called bio-degradation. Gas release from landfills has potentially different environmental effects; therefore, assessing and forecasting the rate of production and release of gas from landfill sites is important for designing these sites and for the successful exploitation of gases as ...
متن کاملDevelopment of the Spectral Deconvolution Analysis Tool (sdat) to Improve Counting Statistics and Detection Limits for Nuclear Explosion Radionuclide Measurements
The Spectral Deconvolution Analysis Tool (SDAT) is being written to improve counting statistics and detection limits for nuclear explosion radionuclide measurements. SDAT will utilize spectral deconvolution spectroscopy techniques to analyze both β−γ coincidence spectra for radioxenon isotopes and high-resolution High Purity Germanium (HPGe) spectra that are utilized for aerosol monitoring. Spe...
